Sound Familiar?

Every day, pipeline integrity engineers face these challenges. We built IntegraFrame because we've been there too.

"ILI data came in and we need results yesterday"

Tight regulatory deadlines with hundreds or thousands of anomalies to assess. Manual processes can't keep up.

Our Solution: Automated parallel processing delivers results in hours, not weeks.

"We're digging dents that don't need repairs"

At $50,000–$200,000 per excavation, unnecessary digs are one of the largest controllable costs in dent management. Conservative depth-based screening does not fully account for dent shape, restraint condition, or loading history.

Our Solution: Proper restraint classification, 3D curvature analysis, and probabilistic assessment distinguish genuinely injurious dents from conservatively flagged ones.

"We don't have enough engineers for detailed assessments"

Limited in-house resources mean backlogs grow while critical decisions wait. Senior integrity engineers are expensive and hard to find.

Our Solution: DentSavant automates every repeatable step — your team focuses on engineering judgment, not data processing.

"Are we really meeting regulatory requirements?"

Audits require documented, defensible engineering assessments. Generic spreadsheets won't hold up to CER or PHMSA scrutiny.

Our Solution: API 1183-aligned workflows with full audit trails — every calculation traceable for regulatory review.

"Our data is scattered across multiple systems"

ILI geometry, IMU data, SCADA pressure histories, and corrosion/crack listings live in silos, making holistic assessment difficult.

Our Solution: Automated data integration ingests all sources into a unified analysis database — every result traceable to its inputs.

"Our caliper tool is finding multi-apex dents our software can't handle"

Modern high-resolution caliper tools detect complex multi-apex dent profiles that traditional API 1183 tools — and most software — are not equipped to evaluate properly.

Our Solution: DentSavant includes validated multi-apex dent classification and assessment — built specifically for the geometries modern tools detect.

From Raw ILI Data to Audit-Ready Results

Four automated stages — each building on validated, QA/QC-cleared inputs — take your caliper data to a complete, defensible assessment package.

1

Data Integration

ILI caliper profiles, optional IMU pipeline geometry data, SCADA pressure histories, pipe material properties, and crack/corrosion listings are ingested into a unified analysis database. All major ILI vendor formats accepted — Rosen, TDW, Baker Hughes, NDT Global.

2

Automated QA/QC & Profile Conditioning

A k-nearest neighbour machine learning model cross-references vendor feature listings against raw caliper data, detecting sensor bounce, channel malfunctions, and misidentified features automatically. FFT-Gaussian filtering then smooths profiles while preserving critical dent geometry.

3

Multi-Level Assessment

Restraint condition is determined automatically. Strain and fatigue screening follows calibrated analytical methods aligned with API 1183. Complex features, or those that fail Level 2 assessment, are automatically escalated to Level 3 non-linear FEA.

4

Audit-Ready Outputs

Assessment reports, Excel summary workbooks, severity rankings, fatigue life predictions, and probability of failure values — generated automatically for every dent, organized by feature, and linked to their source data for full regulatory traceability.

Developed Within a Major Operator.
Deployed for Every Operator.

IntegraFrame was founded by engineers who spent years developing and operating a major Canadian pipeline operator’s systemwide dent integrity management framework — experience that shaped and informed the enhanced methodology now powering DentSavant. DentSavant is purpose-built commercial software that implements and extends this field-validated methodology, with significant enhancements to automation, performance, and usability.

Validated Against Field Reality

The framework was validated against 79 physically excavated dent features with NDE findings, with no false negatives in the validation study. Results are published in peer-reviewed proceedings at IPC 2022 and PPIM 2025, with co-authors from major Canadian pipeline operators.

Automated Level-3 FEA

The highest-fidelity dent assessment method — Level-3 non-linear FEA — runs automatically, generating analysis-ready models from ILI data and converging in one to three shape-matching iterations. Validated on 13 real field-assessed dents across pipe sizes from 609 to 914 mm OD.

Operator-Controlled Deployment

DentSavant supports operator-controlled deployment so ILI data, pressure histories, and assessment results can remain within the customer’s environment, aligning with internal security and data-governance requirements.

Performance Backed by Field Validation

0

False Negatives in Validation Study

Across 79 field-excavated dents compared against NDE findings, the framework produced no non-conservative results. No unsafe dent was classified as acceptable — the critical assurance in regulated pipeline operations.

85%

Agreement with Excavation Findings

In systemwide deployment at a major Canadian transmission operator, 85% of assessed features correctly matched excavation findings. The remaining 15% were conservatively flagged — never under-assessed.

1–3

FEA Iterations to Full Convergence

Automated Level-3 FEA shape-matching converges in one to three iterations across all studied dent geometries — a significant reduction from the many iterations typically required in manual analyst-driven workflows.

* Validated results published in peer-reviewed proceedings: IPC2022-87320 and IPC2026-186220.

Frequently Asked Questions

DentSavant implements and extends a methodology developed by engineers who built and operated a major Canadian liquid transmission operator's systemwide dent integrity management framework. That framework was published at IPC 2022 and validated against 79 excavated features with NDE outcomes, with no false negatives in the study dataset. The Level 3 FEA framework was further validated on 13 field-assessed dents and published at IPC 2026.

We accept data from all major ILI vendors including Rosen, TDW, Baker Hughes, and NDT Global. DentSavant ingests 3D caliper profiles, optional IMU pipeline geometry data, SCADA pressure histories, pipe material and geometry properties, and crack/corrosion feature listings. Our automated ingestion handles format conversion — just send what you have.

DentSavant is a local desktop application — all data is stored in a local database on your workstation or network. Assessment data remains within operator-controlled environments. The software operates fully offline after monthly license validation. This architecture was specifically designed to meet the data security requirements of major pipeline operators.

Both. DentSavant is available as an annual software license for operators who want to run assessments in-house with full data control. We also provide full-service assessments — your team sends the data, our engineers handle the workflow, and we deliver reports structured to support regulatory review. For operators new to the DentSavant methodology, a pilot project or full-service engagement can be a practical starting point before software licensing.
